Political Science combines the vigor of politics with the sense of discovery common to traditional sciences.  As a core liberal arts discipline, Political Science prepares students to think independently, communicate effectively, understand complex social phenomena, and function successfully in a multicultural and ever-changing world.

Students of political science at Fort Lewis College will participate in the great debates of our history such as Socrates’ position on the nature of justice and the Supreme Court’s position on abortion. They may research American foreign policy in the Middle East or water policy in the American West. They may find themselves working as aides to a Colorado legislator or assisting a judge in a local court. These and other opportunities are afforded by our curriculum.
