Academic Advising for New Students

Types of New Students -- Which Describes YOU?
  • First-time Freshman - A high school graduate who has never taken college classes (may have taken college work as a concurrent student prior to graduation from high school). First-time freshmen must arrange an individual advising and registration appointment through the New Student Advising and Registration Office prior to attending Orientation (970-382-6985).
  • New Transfer - A student who has completed at least 12 credits of college work since high school graduation (2.4 average in college coursework). New transfer students must arrange an individual advising and registration appointment through the New Student Advising and Registration Office prior to attending Orientation (970-382-6985). Visit the transfer student webpage for more information.
  • National Student Exchange - A student who is pursing a degree at another U.S. college or university and will attend  FLC on exchange for one or two terms. NSE students must contact the Academic Advising Center for assistance with advising and registration (970-247-7085).
  • Returning/Former - A student who matriculated at FLC but has not been enrolled for two or more consecutive terms. Returning students must contact the Academic Advising Center for assistance with advising and registration (970-247-7085). Former students who have completed coursework at another college while they were away will be readmitted as "Transfer" students.
  • High School Concurrent/Fast Track - High school students who are taking classes at FLC while not yet graduated from high school. Concurrent students are advised by the New Student Advising and Registration Office (970-382-6985) .
  • Unclassified  - Students admitted to take individual courses without seeking a FLC bachelor's degree. Unclassified students must contact the Academic Advising Center for assistance with registration (970-247-7085).
