The Academic Success Program
The mission of the Academic Success Program is to help Fort Lewis College students meet and exceed academic standards (2.00 GPA or better). Below are some of the programs and services we offer. If you are looking for academic help and can't find what you are looking for, contact us at (970) 247-7383.
- Learning Support Programs
Need a tutor? We network with other learning support programs on campus to find the best fit for your academic needs.
- Study Groups
Want to improve your grades and meet new people? Check out this calendar to see if your classes have study groups. FLC students who attend study groups tell us they would recommend them to their peers as a sure way to get better grades. Your tutors who are recommended by your professors are specifically trained to:
- Help you discover your learning style and assist you according to the way you like to learn
- Offer a relaxed study environment
- Replace test anxiety with confidence
- Track your progress toward your academic goals
- Connect what you learn in class with what you already know
- Show you how to improve your memory
- Organize your time for maximum efficiency in your study sessions
- Know how to pull out the most important information from your textbooks and your notes
- Give you skills toward becoming an independent learner - making your own decisions and working for your own approval
- Take the time to clear up any confusion in order to build your understanding and knowledge
- Help students from different cultures and backgrounds than their own
- Help students with learning disabilities.
It's our belief that no one succeeds alone, and our peer educators offer their best strategies on how to pass difficult classes. Other departmental tutoring times may also be listed.
-
Students with Disabilities
We provide assistive technologies and books on tape for students with approved documented disabilities. We also secure academic accommodations. Make an appointment with the Disability Services Coordinator at (970) 247-7459 to present your documentation in a confidential, personal interview, and we'll discuss how to implement appropriate, reasonable academic accommodations for your learning needs.
