Our tutors specialize in helping incoming minority students who are majoring in the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in the fall and winter terms. Other goals include:
- Improving the quality of science and technology classes
- Providing early academic intervention services
- Providing career and graduate school information
- Developing leadership skills
- Offering summer research experiences

El Centro De Muchos Colores (The Center of Many Colors), better known as just "El Centro", is a home-like, multi-use study hall type of center. There is drop-in Spanish tutoring:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday -- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Monday -- 6 - 7 p.m.
- Tuesday -- 6 - 7 p.m.
- Friday -- 2:30 - 5 p.m.
Our location is Berndt Hall, Room 420, near the mini-caf้. We also offer a Spanish-speaking lunchtime.

An overwhelming number of students tell us math was their least favorite subject in high school. Staffed by freshman math teachers and trained peer educators, the Algebra Alcove helps students do better in their math classes by developing their confidence and skill sets. Students enrolled in any freshman math class may work with tutors just by showing up. Tutors assist students with:
- Homework
- Exam and quiz review
- Supplemental instruction
- Problem-solving classes
- Meeting the Colorado Assessment Law standards
- Preparation for the college Q graduation requirement
Language Lab

Hours are posted on the door
The Language Lab provides foreign language computer software and programs. Students can practice pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and study for quizzes. A lab assistant helps students learn how to use these resources. A lab conversation tutor is also available.

Eligibility:
1. Neither of your parents (nor your legal guardian) had a Bachelor's degree before you became 18 years old;
2. You applied for financial aid and received a Pell Grant; and/or
3. You have a documented disability.
Preference is given to students who are both first-generation and low-income.

- Social and Cultural events
- Peer mentoring
- Private computer lab
- Workshops to improve study skills, computer skills, life skills, math and writing skills, and to help you manage your time and money

- Workshops to prepare you for graduate school
- Field trips to regional graduate schools twice per year
- Special activities for non-traditional students (25 and older)
Application Process:
A simple application process is required to document eligibility and to identify your academic needs. After being admitted into PAA, you will meet with a program advisor who will welcome you into the program. Together, you will design an academic plan and discuss your participation in PAA. Your academic progress is monitored and help is available if needed, at every step of the way. PAA can also assist you with personal concerns that may affect your ability to do your best at Fort Lewis College. All PAA services are free.

Advocating Building better writers, the Writing Center offers free assistance to all students with any kind of writing assignment or project at any stage in the writing process (from generating ideas, to establishing an organization structure, to polishing a final draft). The Writing Center is staffed by writing faculty and trained peer tutors. Students can stop by in person or call to make appointments.
