The Humanities Major consists of a primary concentration of 30 credits in one of the disciplines listed below and two secondary concentrations of 12 credits each in two other of these disciplines. At least half of the credits constituting the primary concentration and half of the total credits in the secondary concentrations must be upper-division courses. Students majoring in humanities must choose advisors from the disciplines of their primary concentrations. Humanities majors choosing to take the senior seminar within their primary concentration should consult carefully with their advisors to be sure they complete the departmental prerequisites for that course. As an alternative, students may choose to take an interdisciplinary senior seminar (GS 496). Students may not count courses used in their primary concentrations toward second majors in the disciplines of their primary concentrations. Courses used in a primary or secondary concentration may count toward both the humanities major and the General Education Requirements.
