ART 190: Color

An introductory studio course that focuses on the art and science of color.

 

ART 390: Independent Media/Research

This course is a workshop in media explorations where students will independently work on a variety of self-directed projects and/or research. Students will have previously completed at least one art course in the Art Department.

BA 390: Research Seminar

This seminar will provide a forum for discussions of research design and methodology. Issues of ethics will be discussed as these issues relate to actual projects. The research projects will be conducted in actual organizations.

BA 390: The Business of Gaming

This lecture/field study will investigate the business of gaming in the United States. The students will receive instruction into: target market identification, market segmentation, product differentiation, probability theory, and instructions into how to play the games of Las Vegas. Field trips will be made to the two local casinos, Mesquite Nevada, and Las Vegas. The field studies will be designed to allow the student to apply the material presented in the classroom. Students will present their findings to the professor and the rest of the class.

GEOL 390: Nat Hist & Geog San Juan Mtns

This course is part of the San Juan Mountains Innovative Month Program. The purpose of this course is to explore the feedback loops between identified natural systems operating in the San Juan Mountains. This course will be totally field based. The operating concept is that to better understand a system one should dwell and be part of the energy cycle. The student will leave with specific knowledge about mountain geography and a great sense of why mountains contribute to maintaining the health of the global ecosystem.

PSYC 390: People & Wilderness

This course is part of the People and Wilderness Innovative Month Program. This course explores the relationship between human beings and wilderness. Topics include attitudes about environment, wilderness as therapy, eco-psychology, outdoor leadership and group dynamics and wilderness risk management.

PS 391: The Psych of Political Thought

This course will examine how people make judgments, form opinions, weigh truth claims, evaluate source credibility, use logic, and process and recall political information. The course combines knowledge from political science, cognitive and social psychology, the philosophy of science, logic, and communications. Special emphasis will be on the role of various media outlets, including movies and the Internet, in creating and maintaining perceptions of, and conspiracy theories about, politics.

TS2N 391: Wilderness

This course explores the relationship between human beings and wilderness. Topics include attitudes about environment, wilderness as therapy, ecopsychology, outdoor leadership and group dynamics, and wilderness risk management. Students participate in a 7-10 day wilderness trip as an integral part of the course. Fees for the trip will be approximately $350.
