You have already taken the first step in your career by choosing a major in English, Communications or English Ed. It is especially important that you have an open mind about vocational possibilities and that you confer with your advisor and the counselor(s) in the Career Services Office as early as possible after declaring your major. Remember that people today often have a variety of careers during their lifetimes.
