Music Ensembles at Fort Lewis College

FLC Music Ensembles are open to all students, regardless of major.

Choirs

The large Concert Choir is open to all interested students at Fort Lewis College. It performs four major concerts per year, and focuses on a wide range of music and styles, including great works of the choral repertoire.

The Chamber Choir (16 to 18 voices) is selected by audition at the beginning of each term. The group concentrates on serious choral works written for chamber ensembles.

The Men’s Ensemble is a select group that performs a wide range of literature from the Renaissance to the most avant garde.

Bands

The Symphonic Band is an open enrollment ensemble representing students from a variety of majors across campus. Approximately 65 percent of the ensemble’s members are music majors or minors. The band plays four major concerts per year, performing repertoire from traditional band works to modern compositions.

The Wind Ensemble is a select group of wind players and percussionists drawn from the symphonic band. This group performs challenging literature written specifically for the wind ensemble medium.

The ensemble performs a wide variety of literature associated with the jazz idiom, from standards to modern works written and arranged by local and national composers. The Jazz Ensemble is featured each winter term at the Four Corners Jazz Festival.

The Jazz Combo provides the opportunity for students who wish to improve improvisational skills and performance ability in a smaller setting. The group performs a variety of styles from swing to Latin music.
