Tenor Chris Hendley is new to the Fort Lewis College community, having taught in Georgia for twenty years prior to relocating to Durango. Dr. Hendley received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Auburn University, the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Georgia, and the Ph.D. in Music from the University of Georgia. At Fort Lewis College, Dr. Hendley teaches Applied Voice, Class Voice, and directs the Men’s Chorus, among other things. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Hendley is a professional singer/actor with numerous stage credits. He has held leading roles in such operas as Il Campenello, Die Zauberflöte, and Susanna’s Secret, and musical theatre roles include Curly in Oklahoma!, Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde in Jekyll and Hyde, and Jesus in Godspell. He has also performed as a recitalist and concert soloist throughout Georgia. In 2004, Dr. Hendley was a featured performer for both the Macon Concert Association and the Vineville and the Arts Concert Series in Macon, GA. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2003 American Traditions Competition, held annually in Savannah, GA.
