Brown
earned her Ph.D. in social psychology from Princeton University, with a
focus on attribution theory, nonverbal behavior and human deception. She
has also conducted research in the areas of stereotyping, close
relationships, religious attitudes and natural resource conservation. Dr.
Brown’s current focus is on the psychology of music. She is currently
conducting research on the effect of music-making on well-being. Other
interests include the use of music for mood regulation; music as expression
of identity and the relationship between music and political attitudes. Dr.
Brown has taught at Fort Lewis College since 1990. She routinely teaches
courses on Group Dynamics, Industrial-Organizational Psychology,
Creativity, Research Methods, the Psychology of Religion and Environmental
Psychology. She is a member of several professional associations of social
scientists interested in the psychological dimensions of music.
