POLICY 11-6 CAMPUS POSTING
- Issued: 1980's
- Revised: 8-04
- Approved:

I. PURPOSE
The Campus Posting Policy is designed to encourage an ecologically sound means of advertising, promoting and informing members of the campus community. Posting information on campus is granted to those who complete the procedures listed below.
II. PROCEDURE
An ORIGINAL approval stamp MUST be affixed to EACH copy of the material being posted.
All materials to be posted on campus, EXCEPT in residence halls and apartments, MUST be approved at the CUB Information Desk, Room 102 College Union Building. All materials to be posted in residence halls or apartments MUST have approval from the Student Housing Office, Room 240 Miller Student Center. Call 247-7503 for more information regarding residence hall posting approval.
A. General Guidelines
An original approval stamp must be affixed to each copy of the material being posted.
Posters are approved with the following disclaimer: “Fort Lewis College does not necessarily endorse or support the event/information contained in this poster.”
Some posters may not be immediately approved – usually posters are approved within a few hours of submission.
Alcoholic beverages and/or tobacco products cannot be publicized implicitly or explicitly nor may they be depicted graphically. Offensive, libelous, profane material or obscene language will not be approved.
Materials may be posted for no more than TWO WEEKS. The Director of the Leadership Center may approve exceptions.
All materials must clearly identify the sponsoring organization or group, including a phone number or email address. This includes on and off campus organizations.
Materials can be placed ONLY on “Open Posting” bulletin board surfaces. Items placed on doors, windows, walls, brick, wood or any surface other than bulletin or corkboard surfaces will be removed at the event contact's expense. In addition, materials cannot be attached in any way to vehicles, sidewalks, floors, trees, rocks, or stonewalls. Sidewalk chalk is NOT ALLOWED to be used anywhere on campus.
Departmental bulletin boards identified by a sign on the posting surface, are for that department’s use only. No open posting allowed.
B. Banners
Must be approved at the CUB Information Desk, Room 102 CUB. Banners can be posted on the CUB Banner Board outside the CUB and cannot extend past the framed surface. All banners posted on the interior of the CUB cannot hang down more than 28” from the ceiling above the stairs. Limited space is available. The Director of the Leadership Center may make exceptions to this. Banners may also be hung outside (without tape) at the Library with permission from Library staff.
C. Table Tents
Table Tents are no longer allowed. There is a bulletin board by the entrance of the River Rock Café and the Hungry Hawk snack bar to advertise campus events.
D. For Sale/Wanted Signs
For Sale/Wanted Signs posted on the bulletin board on the main level of the CUB must be on 3” x 5” cards. The CUB Information Desk can provide 3” x 5” cards to use for this purpose.
E. Failure to meet Posting Policy requirements
Sponsoring organizations failing to meet these guidelines may lose posting privileges and/or may be subject to sanctions through the Student Conduct Code.
III. The Fort Lewis College staff member responsible for administrating this policy is the Director of the Leadership Center.
