Construction and Road Closures
  • The "interior" portion of the campus is for PEDESTRIAN traffic only. Interior portions of the campus are clearly marked by traffic gates with "No Parking" and "Service and Emergency Vehicles Only" signs. Other portions of the interior are accessible only by sidewalks.
YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DRIVE AND/OR PARK ON THE INTERIOR OF THE FORT LEWIS COLLEGE CAMPUS WHETHER THE TRAFFIC GATES ARE OPEN OR NOT, UNLESS YOU OR YOUR VEHICLE IS SPECIFICALLY EXEMPTED BY THE FORT LEWIS COLLEGE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Failure to obey this rule may result in charges of Disregarding a Barricade (CRS 42-4-603), Careless Driving (CRS 42-4-1402), and/or Emerging from or Entering Alley, Driveway, or Building (CRS 42-4-710). Fort Lewis College has instituted a policy regarding this issue as well. You can read the policy here.

  • Lot "A", which is south of Berndt Hall, is closed for the re-construction of the central portion of Berndt Hall.
  • Rim Drive from the 8th Avenue traffic lights to the entrance of lot "G" has been re-opened, but due to heavy construction traffic, it has not yet been repaved. Drivers who do not wish to go "off roading" should avoid this stretch of road until it is repaved. A large portion of the area surrounding the CUB is gated off for construction staging.

Construction Workers

Construction employees vehicles must be parked within the construction zones, which include fenced in construction areas and designated construction parking areas. Construction employees cannot purchase Fort Lewis College parking permits which would allow them to park their vehicles in a regular parking lot.
