1. Click on the start button, select Control Panel
2. If your view of the Control Panel is set to Category View (shown below) click the link in the upper left hand corner to switch it to Classic View

3. Double-click the "Network Connections" control panel option
4. You may have several connections listed in the conrol panel. Right-click on the Local Area Connection and select properties

5. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button. In the Properties window, ensure that Obtain and IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both selected. Click OK and close out of both windows.

6. If you have any other types of connections in the Network Control panel such as 1394 Connection or Wireless LAN Adapter, disable them by right-clicking and selecting Disable. They should then be shown as greyed-out and listed as Disabled.
7. Go back to your Control Panel, and double-click on Internet Options

Choose the Connections Tab, and ensure that Never Dial a Connection is selected. Next click on the LAN Settings button.

In Local Area Network (LAN) Settings, make sure that all of the boxes are un-checked.

Click on OK and close out of all the open windows.
