Instructions for Mapping Personal Shares (Your M Drive) on Windows 2000 or Windows XP Home/Professional
You must be connected through a Fort Lewis Internet connection for this to work.
If you are connecting via Dial Up, you must modify your connection before mapping a drive.
If you are connecting through the ResNet, click here

From the Control Panel, right click on your dial-up connection for Fort Lewis College and select the Properties menu. It will look like this:

Next, with your mouse select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item And click the Properties button. You will see this:

Click the Advance button and you will see this:

Select the WINS tab and you will see this:
 Make sure your screen looks like this one, ESPECIALLY make sure that the button is checked for Enable NetBIOS over TCP /IP. | |

Click on the Start button, select Connect To, and Show All Connections |

Right click on your Dial Up Connection, and select 'Properties' |

In the Properties window, Check the box titled 'Include Windows Logon Domain' |

You will now have a third box on your dial-up connection for Domain. Enter FORTLEWIS as the domain, and dial your connection |

1) From the START button, select MY COMPUTER.
2) From the TOOLS menu, Select MAP NETWORK DRIVE |
|
3) Under the DRIVE LETTER box, select M
4) In the FOLDER box type in two back slashes followed by the word “student” followed by another backslash followed by your username:
5) Click on the link to Connect using a Different User Name |

6) A dialog box will pop up requesting your username and password. In the username box type FORTLEWIS followed by a backslash followed by your username.
7) Type your password in the appropriate box and select OK. |
| 8) Select FINISHED and wait while your computer attempts to connect to your M drive. |
| Your M Drive will pop-up under MY COMPUTER under the heading NETWORK DRIVES. |
| To Connect to the "O" drive, follow the steps above, but the share location is \\FACULTY\ACADCOMMON | |
