DURANGO — The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association will host a gathering for Southern Colorado alumni on Friday, May 9 at a Colorado Springs Sky Sox baseball game.

"We're excited to be able to meet with alumni in the Pikes Peak Region," said Russ Elliott ('90), vice president of the FLC Alumni Association. "What could be better than an evening of baseball, barbecue, and fireworks?"

More than 50 FLC alumni and friends attended the Sky Sox game, barbecue and fireworks display on May 11, 2007. Many alumni board members drove from Denver or Durango to greet fellow alumni.

The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association will host a gathering for Southern Colorado alumni on May 9, 2008 at a Colorado Springs Sky Sox game. More than 50 FLC alumni and friends attended the 2007 Sky Sox gathering.

The event begins with an all-you-can-eat cookout from 5-6:30 p.m. Barbecue pork, barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, cookies, and Pepsi products are included. A full-service cash bar will be available to pavilion guests.

The Sky Sox take the field against the Round Rock Express at 6:05 p.m. The Sky Sox are the AAA affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, so Rockies fans can see the team's future stars and brightest prospects in action. Last year's FLC alumni gathering gave fans the chance to see several Sky Sox players who would later help the Rockies win the National League title and appear in the franchise's first-ever World Series.

Following the game, the Sky Sox will have their first fireworks display of the season.

Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children (15 and younger), which includes the all-you-can-eat barbecue and seating in a pavilion reserved exclusively for FLC alumni.

Alumni will have the chance to meet FLC administrators and Alumni Board members, as well as fellow FLC alumni who live in Southern Colorado. Door prizes and Skyhawk souvenirs will be given away at the event.

The Sky Sox play their home games at Security Service Field, located at 4385 Tutt Blvd. in Colorado Springs.

The Alumni Association needs to turn in a final head count to the Sky Sox, so RSVPs are required by Wednesday, April 23. Contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 970-247-7427 or alumni@fortlewis.edu to reserve your seat. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.
