Alumni Association plans Colorado Springs gathering featuring baseball, barbecue, fireworks

The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association will host a gathering for Southern Colorado alumni on Friday, May 11 at a Colorado Springs Sky Sox baseball game.
“We’re excited to be able to meet with alumni in the Pikes Peak Region,” said Russ Elliott (’90), vice president of the FLC Alumni Association. “What could be better than an evening of baseball, barbecue, and fireworks?”
The event begins with an all-you-can-eat cookout from 5-6:30 p.m. Barbecue pork, barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, cookies, and Pepsi products are included. A full-service cash bar will be available to pavilion guests.
The Sky Sox take the field against the Nashville Sounds at 6:05 p.m. The Sky Sox are the AAA affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, so Rockies fans can see the team’s future stars and brightest prospects in action.
Following the game, the Sky Sox will have their first fireworks display of the season.
Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children (15 and younger), which includes the barbecue and seating in a pavilion reserved exclusively for FLC alumni.
Alumni will have the chance to meet FLC administrators and Alumni Board members, as well as fellow FLC alumni who live in Southern Colorado. Door prizes and Skyhawk souvenirs will be given away at the event.
The Sky Sox play their home games at Security Service Field, located at 4385 Tutt Blvd. in Colorado Springs.
The Alumni Association needs to turn in a final head count to the Sky Sox, so RSVPs are required by Wednesday, April 25. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, and checks made payable to the Fort Lewis College Foundation (please write Colorado Springs gathering in the memo line) are accepted.
