The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association hosted an alumni golf outing at The Ridge at Castle Pines North in Castle Rock on Sept. 11, 2009. The event raised money for the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Nineteen alumni and friends participated in the tournament, lunch and awards reception.
Congratulations are in order for Russ Elliott (1989), who won the longest drive and one of two closest-to-the-pin prizes. Russ was also a member of the winning team, which consisted of three of his longtime friends from the Colorado Rockies fantasy baseball camps: Ralph Noistring, Phil Shivley and Bob VonEschen. Andy Chase (1992) also won a closest-to-the pin prize.
While numbers were small for this initial event, the Alumni Association was pleased enough with tournout to begin making plans for a 2010 event.
Special thanks to Alumni Vice President David Bliesmer (1999) and President Andy Chase (1992) for researching Denver-area golf courses and coordinating the event. Five current and one former member of the Alumni Association's Board of Directors participated in the golf outing. |
