The private viewing room at the Blake Street Tavern has hosted January gatherings of FLC alumni the past two years. |
|
The Fort Lewis College Alumni Association held it's second annual Blake Street Tavern gathering on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Nearly 110 FLC alumni, friends and employees gathered to eat, drink and share memories of "The Fort."
Nearly a dozen football alumni showed up to help Rocky Schneider (1999) celebrate his induction into the FLC Athletic Hall of Fame. Schneider, who is a high school football coach, was unable to attend the September Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Director of Alumni Relations Chris Aaland and Director of Athletics Kelly Higgins, who are members of the FLC Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee, presented Schneider with his plaque.
The Blake Street Tavern gathering has become a highlight to the Alumni Association's calendar. Board members from as far away as Seattle, Los Angeles and Kansas City flew into Denver to greet alumni and hold their monthly meeting. Special thanks to Jeff Stegeman, who offered his office earlier in the day to host the board's January meeting. |
