About the Artist in Residence Program

The Artist in Residence Program originated in 1995 with a few Durango residents who volunteered their time, financial support and expertise. The purpose of such a program was: 1) to provide an opportunity for residents in the Four Corners to enjoy high-quality artistic performances representing a wide range of musical genres; 2) to enhance the education of Fort Lewis College music students via master classes and students in general via exposure to this facet of a liberal arts education; 3) to sponsor events on campus such as the Four Corners Piano Competition, held in late February in 2003 and 2004.  The next piano competition will be in 2006. These activities are totally dependent on the support of our donors.
