Nathan Robert Hertzog attended FLC from 1993-1998 when he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in Latin American Studies. During his years at FLC,
Nathan was given opportunities, encouragement and inspiration to nurture his interest in Latin America. Not only did he make several trips to Mexico, but he also taught
school in the village of San Rafael and traveled to Chiapas to research the Zapatista Movement. Nathan’s passion for the Mexican people, their culture, customs and family
life could be seen in his face and gestures as he spoke with tremendous enthusiasm of his experiences in their country. His other two passions were art and the environment.
Nathan spent much of his time at FLC working at the environmental center. He also signed up for every art class that he could fit into his schedule. Nathan intended to attend
graduate school and again go to Mexico to learn, teach and otherwise help the people he admired. Unfortunately, those dreams did not come to fruition, as Nathan was
