Thomas R. Schilling
Chair

Thomas R. Schilling, is the co-founder and chief executive officer of InterMountain Corporate Affairs, one of the West’s leading public affairs consulting firms. A former journalist with the Chicago Tribune and Rocky Mountain News, Schilling also helped lead former Colorado Governor Roy Romer’s economic development efforts. Schilling, a regional leader in community and media relations, specializes in working with legal, engineering and environmental experts on transportation and transit projects throughout the Intermountain West.   He is active in the Downtown Denver Partnership and Public Relations Society of America.

A single adoptive father, Schilling also is a community advocate for at-risk youth. Denver Mayor John W. Hickenlooper recently appointed him to the Denver Human Services Board, which oversees child welfare and adult protection services. Previously, he served on the boards of Urban Peak, Colorado’s only licensed shelter for homeless and runaway youth, and Big Brothers of Metro Denver. Schilling also serves as a Big Brothers volunteer mentor.

Schilling enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren, traveling, skiing and biking. A third-generation Colorado native, he holds a bachelor’s of arts degree from the University of Oregon School of Journalism.

Former Governor Bill Owens appointed Schilling, a Democrat, to a term on the Board of Trustees ending December 31, 2008.
