Thomas Schilling

Thomas SchillingThomas R. Schilling is among Colorado’s pre-eminent practioners of strategic communications, having worked as a daily journalist in Chicago and Denver, senior state government spokesman, and counselor to leaders in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

Currently, Schilling is the CEO and Principal/Strategic Communications for InterMountain Public Affairs, LLC, which just completed 20 years of industry leadership. His practice focuses on not-for-profits, transportation, finance and higher education.

A fourth-generation Coloradoan, Schilling is active in community service, with a focus on advocating for at-risk youth. He served as a member of the Denver Board of Human Services, board of directors of Big Brothers of Metro Denver, and board of directors of Urban Peak, the state’s only licensed shelter for homeless and runaway youth. Former Governor Bill Owens appointed him to the Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College, and he served as chair in 2008.

Schilling, an adoptive father, lives in Denver, where he enjoys skiing, biking and hanging out with his seven grandchildren. He is a 1975 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism.

His term will expire on December 31, 2016.
