Your donation can help to make a difference in the lives of young children and their families. There is compelling evidence that higher quality, early care and education is associated with greater costs. Findings on relationship between labor and quality suggest the importance of hiring enough staff to maintain small group sizes and ratios, and hiring staff with education and experience to provide high quality toddler and preschool care.

At Campbell Child & Family Center, a substantial portion of our parent body consists of Fort Lewis College students. Juggling the demands of school, work, and parenting can be a challenge. Although needy students may readily qualify for financial assistance to attend college, many low-income students are unable to afford quality child care.

Different situations create a hardship for many parents who are seeking a degree:

  • grants to assist specifically with child care are more limited;
  • additional financial assistance is available to qualifying low-income families, but the demand for child care assistance oftentimes exceeds the funds available;
  • public assistance follows low-income guidelines, but many families barely exceed low-income standards to qualify for public assistance child care.

Your contribution to Campbell Child & Family Center Programs Fund helps to keep our child care fees reasonable for all student families, while ensuring that early childhood quality standards are maintained. Your donation to the Fort Lewis College Child Care Scholarship Fund provides direct child care assistance to qualifying low-income student families. Making quality child care accessible to students offers a double benefit, helping parents to complete their college degrees while providing enriching early learning experiences for children.
