Career Services helps prepare students for the transition from college to the world of work. We connect students and alumni with employers seeking qualified applicants and we provide the tools necessary for career exploration. We strongly encourage students to meet our Career Services experts as early as your first year at Fort Lewis College.

From our experience we recommend the following sample steps during your academic career:

  • First Year
  • Sophomore Year
    • Continue your extracurricular activities & update your resume
    • Review skills, interests & experience, before declaring a major
    • Conduct informational interviews & establish your network
    • Explore Study Abroad opportunities
  • Junior Year
    • Pursue leadership roles in your club or organization & update your resume
    • Explore graduate schools & career-related internships
    • Continue building your career network & GPA
    • Attend Career Services fairs, workshops and special events
    • Study for during the Spring or Summer semester & take the GRE
  • Senior Year
    • Update your resume with internship/summer job experience
    • Complete another internship
    • Actively participate in fairs, workshops and special events
    • Actively pursue employment opportunities
    • Apply to graduate schools (if applicable) in the Fall semester
