Students Living in Residence Halls

Q - How do I sign up for a meal plan?
A - If you have applied for housing in a residence hall (not apartments), you are automatically signed up for the UNLIMITED meal plan. If you wish to change to another meal plan, you may do so on your WebOPUS account under student services/student records.

Changes can be made the first two weeks of school PRIOR TO CENSUS DATE. Meal plans and flex dollars expire at the end of each semester.
Please note: The 5 Meal Plan is not available to Freshmen.

Q - What are the advantages of the Unlimited meal plan?
A - This plan allows you to enter the River Rock Café as many times as you want throughout the day (during the hours of operation) versus one entry per meal period on a traditional plan. You can get a cup of coffee in the morning to take to your first clas . Come back and have breakfast. Eat lunch. Stop back in and have cookies while studying.

Q - What are Flex dollars?
A - Flex dollars offer additional variety in dining by allowing you to make purchases in the Hungry Hawk Café, and our Grab and Go locations of Jazzman’s Café, Café a la Carte (located in Berndt Hall), and Night Hawk (located in Cooper Hall).

Q - When can I use my flex dollars?
A - Flex dollars become available for you to use on the first day of classes.

Q - Can I purchase more Flex dollars?
A - No. However, you can purchase SkyCash. SkyCash is similar to flex dollars in that they offer additional variety in dining by allowing you to make purchases in the Hungry Hawk Café, and Grab and Go locations such as Jazzman’s Café (located at Berndt Hall), Café a la Carte (located in Jones Hall), and Night Hawk (located in Cooper Hall).

SkyCash is kept in an account that uses your campus ID card as a debit card. It saves you money at all campus dining locations by not charging sales tax.

You can purchase SkyCash at the SkyCard Office (Student Union), the Cashier's Office (Berndt Hall) or online from this Fort Lewis website.

Q - What if I lose my ID card?
A - Cards can be replaced for a cost of $15 at the SkyCard ID office.

Q - If I don’t eat all of my meals on the 14 or 10 meal plan, do they roll over to the next week?
A - No. Meals you don’t eat are lost. The new week begins with breakfast on Monday. This is another advantage of the Unlimited Plan.

Q - Can I let a friend eat one of my meals?
A - No. Meal plans are specifically for you and are not transferable. However, you may use your Flex dollars or Dining Dollars to let a friend eat.

Students Who Commute or Live in Apartments

Q - Can I eat in the River Rock Café even if I don’t have a meal plan?
A - Yes. We accept cash and Dining Dollars.

Q - Can I purchase a Meal Plan?
A - Yes. We have designed the 5 Meal Plan especially for you. However, you may purchase any meal plan you wish. You can purchase a meal plan on your WebOPUS account under student services/student records.

Choose any 5 of the 19 meals served each week throughout the semester. Also includes $150 Flex to spend at any campus dining location.

Q - What is SkyCash?
