Independent Study 499 1-6

All major fields required either independent study or a seminar at the senior level. Independent study may be undertaken in a field other than the student's major. To do so, the student must have the approval of his or her advisor, department chair, the department chair in whose area the study will be made, and the professor who will supervise the study. However, independent study in the field outside of the student's major cannot be substituted for the requirement of independent study or seminar in his or her major field.
