My home away from home One of the most significant changes when a student comes to college is the transition from living at home to living in a residence hall. Self-Love is First Love: My experience working with Student Wellness College can be a very stressful time in life. It is definitely a challenge balancing school, work, a social life, and still finding time to take care of your health. I’ve had to face this struggle during my time at the Fort and thanks to our Student Wellness services, I’ve been able to educate myself on the importance of balancing my crazy schedule while still making time to take care of myself. VIDEO: A day in the life of Jake What is it like to be a student at Fort Lewis College? In our "Day in the life" series, we'll explore student life at FLC through the eyes of our students. In this episode, we meet Jake, a senior Biology major who aspires to be a veterinarian. On a typical day, Jake hikes up to campus, meets with his research advisor in the Honors Program, goes to his neurobiology class, and works at a local small animal veterinary clinic. Go Skyhawk Volleyball!

Adams State. They were ranked first last year in our RMAC conference, and our head coach’s daughter was their starting senior setter. This team gave us so much trouble last year, and had already beaten some of the best teams in our conference.

But the Grizzlies were coming to OUR home court on Saturday. We had worked hard in practice all week, we discussed every player’s tendencies, and the technical strategy we needed to out work them on the court. But still, the record favored Adams for this game.

Going beyond the classroom

Going beyond the classroom I have had a lot of amazing opportunities at Fort Lewis College to explore my field of study beyond the classroom. I am an English Communication Major and throughout my time on the campus news magazine The Independent, I have moved through various positions. I started as a Print Reporter and I transitioned to become Online Manager and now for a year and a half I have been Editor in Chief. For three consecutive years I have participated in the Associate Collegiate Press (ACP) Convention; a journalism convention that is held in different cities every year. Read the rest of entry »
