Get on the Path to Sustainability

Fort Lewis' sustainability initiatives have a new home. You can vote on the logo for the Pathways to Sustainability program on the new sustainability website for the College. Getting a sustainability website was a priority of the Sustainability Action Plan.  The current draft of the plan is now posted.  The Center is helping collect comments over the next six weeks to improve the plan and clear the way for approval.

The Latest:  Students from the EC helped out with composting, apple pressing, and pie-eating at last weekend's 2nd Annual Homegrown Festival. Alex Colvin from our Zero-Waste team brought home the pie-eating contest trophy with a fierce display of frenzied, face-first scarfing. Students from our Sustainable Business Team baked a triple-decker apple pie to demonstrate how we can grow our local economic pie by shifting our purchases to locally-owned, independent businesses.
Featured Project

The Zero-Waste team has started a Funky Free Box that is available for things that you don't want or need. The team will hold give-away days through the year. This is all part of our initaitive to reduce waste on campus and keep things out of the landfills.

Green Freedom

Green Freedom goes multimedia.  Check out our first issue of the new school year with audio and video at your fingertips. Students are writing about creative solutions to wildlife issues in our region.
