Environmental Studies Degree at Fort Lewis College

Fort Lewis College offers a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies.  This new, interdisciplinary program provides a broad base of knowledge in the natural and physical sciences, social sciences, and the humanities.  Students in the program will then move on to an upper-division sequence of courses that will allow them to focus their learning and apply their knowledge to substantive research and projects within the community.

The Environmental Studies major will prepare students for graduate studies or careers in environmental management, public policy, government and law, to name a few. You’ll also gain hands-on experience in environmental problem-solving through community-based learning and research. If you are interested in a career or further study in environmental science, there are also environmentally-oriented degree options in Biology and Geology.

In Southwest Colorado, environmental issues have notable impacts on American Indian lands and people. The Environmental Studies major will prepare you for work with American Indian governments which are looking for graduates who are trained in the scientific, political and cultural dimensions of environmental restoration and management.
