Sustainable Business List

Welcome to the Environmental Center's Sustainable Business List.  The list allows businesses within the San Juan River watershed to highlight what they are doing to create a more sustainable and just world.  If you'd like your business to appear on our list, just complete the Sustainable Business Inventory (MS Word version or Adobe PDF) and send it back to us along with photo or graphic.  Our students will do the rest.  Let others know how you're creating a more sustainable world.  See a sample listing.

Our list doesn't play favorites!  All businesses within the Four Corners region, broadly defined by the San Juan River watershed, can get be listed.  Each listing will include a short description of the business and contact information so customers can get in touch with businesses directly to find out more information.  Each listing will also identifies what type of business it is (locally-owned, independent business, publicly-traded corporation or franchise, employee-owned cooperative, etc.).  Locally-owned, independent businesses that participate on the list and that join Local First, the new independent business alliance will get the special icon on their coupon in the Be Local Coupon Book

Goals of the sustainable business list include:

  • providing information to potential customers to help them make informed choices about where to spend their money
  • encouraging businesses to communicate with each other about successful and sustainable practices
  • acknowledging what business owners in our region have done
  • inspire everyone to do more.  The hope is to create a sustainable and just economy from the ground up
