Teacher Education Outreach

The Teacher Education Outreach Program meets the crucial need of educating minority students through a comprehensive, sustained program of training designed to increase the numbers of minority and bilingual teachers. In an off-campus setting, the program has successfully increased the numbers of well-qualified bilingual teachers with a background in Navajo, Hispanic and Ute culture and language.  If you are interested in learning more about Teacher licensing please contact Dr. Gary Knight at knight_g@fortlewis.edu

The mission of the Graduate School of Social Work is to foster social work responsibility regarding social and economic justice, quality of life, and multicultural communities, based on equality for all people. We offer a MSW program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education, equivalent to that offered at the University of Denver's main campus, which has been providing social work education since 1931. The program features a Friday evening and Saturday class schedule to accomodate the needs of working professionals. The two year program ( 1 year for BSW students) aims to prepare social workers for advanced practice in either clinical practice ( work with individuals, couples and families) or community practice ( work in administration, community organizing and development, policy analysis and advocacy).
