Fort Lewis College Instructor Facilitated Online Non-Credit Classes
Fort Lewis College and the Office of Continuing Education has partnered with Cengage Learning, parent company of Ed2Go and Gatlin Education Systems, to offer online courses and career certificate programs that may not be otherwise available to students. Please keep in mind that these are non-credit, meaning they do not earn college credit or apply towards any accredited degree program, with the exception of some healthcare certification courses offered through Ed2Go. Our online courses are not to be confused with courses being offered for college credit through Fort Lewis College academia (Admissions, the Registrar, and Faculty).
Education2Go: Non-Credit Career Development and Personal Enrichment Courses
Fort Lewis College has partnered with Ed2Go to offer affordable, instructor-facilitated online courses that are informative, fun, convenient, and highly interactive. Visit our website for a complete list of all 300+ courses www.ed2go.com/fortlewis
Gatlin Education Systems: Non-Credit Career Training Programs
Gatlin programs are designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to acquire professional caliber positions for many in-demand occupations. Visit our website for a complete list of career training and certificate programs www.gatlineducation.com/fortlewis
What’s the difference between Gatlin’s online classes and the Ed2Go's online short courses?
Gatlin Education Systems combine high quality online content, textbooks, CD-ROMs, and an online instructor/mentor committed to student success. Adult learners and career changers are generally faced with competency-based or certification-based learning. Gatlin programs are designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional caliber positions for many in-demand occupations. They differ from Ed2Go courses in that Gatlin career training programs are longer, more comprehensive, and offer the following:
• The programs are open enrollment, students can start at anytime.
• The programs are self-paced; students can study around their busy schedule.
• Students will earn a certificate of completion from the school after completing the course.
• The programs provide entry level job training. If there is a national certification exam in the field the course will prepare students to sit for the exam (advise students to review course descriptions for additional information).
• In most cases all of the required materials (books, workbooks, or software) are included.
• All students have an instructor who will assist with questions, grade course assessments, and provide feedback.
• In addition to the instructor, a Counselor is assigned to each student to help the student remain on track with their course work. The Counselor also assists with job searching, resume review, letters of recommendation, and other tools in order to help students be prepared for finding employment upon completion.
By comparison, our Ed2go courses typically last 6 weeks and are a great way to test if one likes a particular career or industry, or to take a single course (from beginner to advanced levels) in your area of interest. A variety of test-prep courses for various technical and professional career exams are available plus many career training and personal enrichment courses - over 300 topics are offered! Ed2Go courses begin on the third Wednesday of each month and many are priced at just $99. The majority of Ed2Go course materials are provided online, although a few courses do require textbooks that are not included in the tuition. Like Gatlin, Ed2Go classes come equipped with a patient and caring instructor with whom students may interact, in addition to discussions with fellow classmates.
