What is a SkyCard?
Your SkyCard is the official Fort Lewis College identification card for students, staff and faculty. It should be carried with you at all times. It contains your photograph, identification number and an encoded magnetic stripe that validates you for campus entitlements and services. Many offices on campus will request your SkyCard or your ID number for verification when requesting their services.
How do I get a SkyCard?
Students must be registered for the current term to obtain a SkyCard. For students attending an orientation session, your SkyCard will be issued at a designated time during the session. The matriculation fee for new, ‘first-time’ students covers the cost of the first card.
If you are not attending an orientation session or are an employee please come by the SkyCard Service Center, 58 College Union Building, across from the campus post office. Employees must be listed in the campus database or present a copy of their signed employment contract. SkyCards will be generated for employees on or after their official employment date.
All cardholders are required to present a ‘government issued’ photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, military ID or state/tribal identification card to obtain the first issue of the SkyCard. Ski passes or sports club memberships are not considered valid forms of identification.
Your Skycard is valid as long as you are an employee or registered student. A new card is not issued every year. The cardholder is responsible for the care of the SkyCard. Users that have damaged their cards (beyond the normal wear and tear) will be charged a replacement fee.
Your SkyCard gives you access to:
- SkyCash (A debit account that is accepted across much of the campus)
- Meal Plans (You must have your SkyCard to enter the dining hall)
- Flex Dollars (Money that comes with the meal plans for the food retail areas)
- Student Health Center
- Athletic Events
- Intramurals
- Outdoor Pursuits
- Reed Library Services
- Pay for Print Services
- Door access to designated areas for assigned users
- Campus activities and Events
SkyCash is money that can be put on your SkyCard account to be used at the following locations:
- Fort Lewis College Bookstore
- Cashier Office
- SkyCard Office
- River Rock Dining Hall (Student Union)
- Jazzman's Cafe (Berndt Hall)
- Cafe A La Cart (Jones Hall)
- Night Hawk Cafe (Cooper Hall)
- Reed Library and the Reed Library copier
- Pay for Print Services
- Student Life Center
- Outdoor Pursuits
- Information Desk
- Laundry centers in residence halls
- Beverage and Snack Vending (Student Union, EBH, Animas Hall and expanding)
You can deposit funds into a SkyCash account at the following locations:
- At the FLC website homepage - log into "theFort" Portal from within the Current Students tab or the Faculty/Staff link. Once logged into theFort, click on the SkyCard link.
- At the FLC website homepage you can utilize the search feature and go to "S". Any of the links regarding the SkyCard or SkyCash contains a link to the SkyCash deposit window. This includes an option for guests to deposit SkyCash into an account with out having to login. The guest depositor must know the name as it appears on the SkyCard as well the ID number.
- Student Union Value Transfer Station (VTS) which is located adjacent to the Information Desk on the first floor of the Student Union building. The VTS allows you to deposit funds directly into your SkyCard account with cash or a credit card. Coins are not accepted.
- FLC Cashier Office located in Berndt Hall, room 140, (970) 247-7361.
- SkyCard Office located in the Student Union, room 58, on the ground floor across from the campus Post Office, (970) 247-7504.
The SkyCard is also the meal card for students with meal plans. The mag stripe is automatically encoded when your card is generated. All meal plan patrons must use their SkyCard for access to their meal plans. For more information on Meal Plan Options please visit the

How do I manage my Skycard account (adding money, reporting a stolen or lost card, etc.)?
Visit this site or select the SkyCard link at theFort Portal to manage your account.
Lost or stolen cards should be replaced as soon as possible by coming during business hours to the SkyCard Service Center, 8:00 am until Noon and1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, across the hall from the campus Post Office in the College Union Building, room 58. Your account can be protected anytime by logging into theFort Portal and selecting the SkyCard link where you can freeze the account.There is a replacement fee of $15, which may be paid for with cash, check, credit card, or by billing the student’s account. When the new card is generated, the lost card will become invalid. A photo ID is not required to replace a lost card since your photo should already be stored in our database.
A word about unauthorized use…..
Although entrusted to you, the SkyCard remains the property of the College. Unauthorized use or use by a party other than the person identified on the SkyCard, as well as tampering with or alteration of the card, warrants confiscation and possible disciplinary action by the College.
