Presentation to Classes
Don't Cancel That Class!
Over the years, many faculty have incorporated career presentations into their classes. The Career Services Office is happy to accommodate these requests. Each year between 60 to 90 career related presentations are given by the Director of the Career Services Office. The presentations are appropriate for all majors and all levels – freshmen to seniors. If you are going to be gone from class for a conference, for example, you can schedule a presentation for that day.
Topics
The most common presentations are related to career planning, the job search, resume, cover letter development and graduate school search. You can have a presentation tailored to the needs of your classes and students.
Some presentation topics include:
- How to conduct a job search
- On-line job search programs such as Optimal Resume and The Skyhawks Job Source - on-line job posting and search program
- Resume and letters in the job search
- Interview techniques and mock interviews in the class
- Applying to graduate school
- Career planning and decision making
- Assessments (requires a time for students to complete the assessment and then time for the interpretation in class)
- What can I do with a major in . . . . .?
- or any combination of these topics

Time and Timing
The presentations can be two hours long for in depth discussions of the career topics, or can be a short overview presentation of services or an event/program. If you are going to be gone for a day, this may be a perfect time to request a class presentation. A minimum of a two week notice is not only appreciated, but in many cases necessary to secure the date and time that works best for your class.
Scheduling
To schedule a presentation please contact the Career Services Office to discuss topic, time and location. The number is 247-7562. We will need the following information:
- Your name
- Contact Information - phone, email
- Title of the class
- Date(s)
- Time - Both the time of the class and the amount of time for the presentation
- Location - Building and room number
- Number of students in the class and the level (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and/or seniors
- Topic(s) to be discussed
