Scholarships, Fellowships & Contests

Career Services receives information regarding various scholarships and contests from which you, the student, might benefit.  This list is simply for your convenience.   Contact each organization individually and not the Career Services Office.  Be sure to research each organization.

Scholarships / Fellowships

  • College In Colorado Scholarship: For middle school and early high school students who commit to taking pre-collegiate coursework.
  • Colorado Association of Legal Support Staff Gwendolyn S. Duran Memorial Scholarship Fund: $1,000 scholarship to a full-time student who demonstrates a financial need and enrolls in a legal program such as secretary, court reporter, legal assistant, paralegal, or pre-law concentration.
  • Colorado Authors' League: $1,000 to an.aspxiring Colorado writer
  • Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX): This is a State Department sponsored work-study scholarship program in Germany.  The program includes stipends, international flights, German language training, a semester at a German college, professional internship, and host family stay.  All fields welcome, and go German language knowledge required.  Call 212-497-3522. 
  • Daughters of the American Revolution: Offers numerous scholarships
  • Douglas County Conservation District: This $500 scholarship is available to any college Freshman or Sophomore student majoring in the fields of Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Watershed Management, Earth Resources Science, and other fields related to the utilization and conservation of soil and water resources.  Contact Douglas County Conservation District, PO Box 688, Franktown, CO 80116, 303-688-3042.
  • Language Scholarships:  The United States Department of State and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) are pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for intensive overseas study in critical need languages such as Arabic, Bangla, Hindi, Punjabi, Turkish and Urdu.   • Indian Health Service (IHS) Scholarship: Roselinda Allison, Navajo Area Coordinator, 928-871-5834.
  • Edith Kennedy Wilson Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to students entering a junior or senior year and currently enrolled in any accredited school of business in a four-year Colorado institution.  Contact Miss Shirley Mott, Scholarship Committee, 13901 E. Marina Drive #608, Aurora, CO 80014-5506.
  • Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund: For needy children and spouses of those killed or permanently disabled as a direct result of the terrorist attacks on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 in the United States and during the continuing rescue activities.
  • Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM): National scholarship competition full tuitions scholarships for 5 students who demonstrate an exceptional talent and interest in Fashion Design, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Fashion Merchandising, or Graphic Design.  All 5 winners receive a one-year scholarship to FIDM that includes tuition, fees, books, and most supplies.  Contact the FIDM Office of Community & Educational Affairs at 800-262-3436 or 818-990-2241.  Contact for deadline information.
  • Financial Aid Scholarship Page: A vast resource for various funding opportunities.
  • Gates Millennium Scholar Program: For academically talented, low-income African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students.
  • Hispanic College Fund: Numerous scholarship opportunities.
  • Institute for Humane Studies - 2 scholarship programs:
  • John Gyles Education Awards: For students in the United States and Canada.
  • Latin American Educational Foundation Scholarship: Awards funds to qualified students who have demonstrated a commitment to the Hispanic community.
  • Marie Curie Fellowships: Administered via the Centre for European Studies (CES), e-mail
  • Marshall Scholarship Competition: These scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom.
  • Math for America, Newton Fellowship Program: MFA created this program to improve teacher quality by increasing the number of well trained and properly motivated people entering careers as high school mathematics teachers.  Newton Fellows receive master's level teacher training, on-going financial incentives ($90,000 in stipends over 5 years in addition to the salaries as teachers), and supportive services to help graduating college seniors as well as mid-career professionals launch successful, satisfying math teaching careers.
  • National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC): Founders' Scholarship Foundation Award
  • National Federation of the Blind: Scholarships solely for persons who are legally blind.

  • National Television Academy Scholarship: $4,000 to be awarded to Heartland Region majoring in Journalism or related field.
  • Outward Bound Scholarships: Character-building wilderness experiences

  • Pikes Peak Association of Legal Support Staff Scholarship Fund: $500 scholarship to a full-time student who demonstrates a financial need and enrolls in a legal program, such as secretary, court reporter, legal assistant, paralegal, or pre-law concentration.  Contact Pauli Engwersen at 719-475-6487.
  • Pinnacol Foundation Scholarship Program: For children of Colorado workers who were killed or permanently disabled in a compensable work-related accident.
  • Poynter Summer Fellowship for Young Journalists: Contact for deadline information.
  • SallieMae Fund: Scholarships for low-income and minority students.
  • The CIRI Foundation: Our mission is to promote individual self-development and economic self-sufficiency through education and to maintain pride in culture and heritage among Alaska Natives who are original enrollees of Cook Inlet Region and their descendants.  The CIRI Foundation also strives to enhance the heritage of Alaska Natives through programs that foster appreciation and understanding of Alaska Native cultures.
  • The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program: is dedicated to the support of Native American students pursuing a higher education in Natural Resources.
