Graduate School Information
Generally when asked how many students go onto graduate school, I hear that it is approximately 25% of Fort Lewis College graduates. There are some very specific activities in which you can engage to enhance your opportunities of being selected into the graduate school program of your choice. The Selecting a Graduate School handout below and the Graduate School Seminar are just a couple of ways you can begin this process.
Some of the graduate schools that Fort Lewis College students have been accepted to are Notre Dame, Harvard, CU-Boulder, Colorado State University, Stanford, and Cornell.
Preparing for graduate school can begin as early as your first year of college, but should be started at least one year prior to the time you wish to start your graduate program. This includes exploring graduate schools and deciding upon a career direction. See Selecting a Major and/or Minor and Selecting a Career if you are still undecided in either of these areas. Speaking with faculty in your area of interest is a very important part of your decision. Faculty have good insights into what it takes to get into graduate school and to complete a graduate program. They are familiar with graduate programs in their area of expertise thereby being able to provide advice to you about selecting a graduate program that is right for you.
