What can I do with a major in Education?
Education degrees prepare people to work in a number of settings.
Education Administrators provide direction, leadership & day-to-day management of activities in preschools, elementary, secondary, religious, vocational/technical schools, colleges & universities, businesses and community service organizations.
Kindergarten & Elementary School Teachers introduce children to numbers, reading, language, science and social studies.
Secondary School Teachers specialize in specific subjects & help students move from childhood to adulthood; plan lessons, prepare tests, grade papers, prepare report cards, oversee study halls & supervise extracurricular activities.
Librarians make information available by collecting, organizing & lending books, periodicals films, records, videotapes, computer tapes, and other types of materials. May be in user services such as reference librarians, or in technical services such as acquisitions librarians and catalogers.
Special Education Teachers educate and train students with a variety of disabilities and use different methods to promote learning. The disabilities can include: learning disabilities, mental retardation, speech or language impairments, emotional disturbances, brain injury, autism, and visual and hearing impairment.
Education Program Specialists provide services for teachers including planning courses, evaluating the school system's educational processes and materials, develop instructional aids, etc.
