Student Wellness Initatives at Fort Lewis College
Mission Statement: To promote healthy behavior in our student population through campus-wide educational programming delivered by staff and students using the peer education model.
This program is the primary prevention effort of the College and provides:
- Educational opportunities in
- Residence Halls
- Classrooms
- College community at large
- Support and training for a student health organization through The Leadership Center
- Weekly supervision for officers and members
- Training for certification with The BACCHUS Network as a Certified Peer Educator
- Professional/student development in travel to national and regional conferences
- Academic credit available throught the Cooperative Education Program
- Data collection and analysis in order to focus educational programming, group discussions, and presentations on:
- Sexual Responsibility
- Healthy lifestyles
- Substance use and mis-use
- Physical fitness and exercise
- Tobacco related issues for college students
