Doreen Hunter, Professor [Emeritus]
U.S. History
BRIEF BIO
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University and my PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining the Fort Lewis College Faculty in 1980, I taught US History at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England and at Virginia Tech. I loved all the challenges and pleasures of learning and teaching. My favorite courses included Colonial America, US Women's History, US Cultural and Intellectual History, US and Vietnam, the US Since 1945 and America Between the Wars (1919-1941). I retired in 2004. At present I have given myself permission to live more deliberately--to read all the poetry and fiction, the philosophy and history I felt I never had time for while teaching, and to hike, camp, bike and swim.
