Types of Services

Services are individually and reasonably determined based on valid documentation stating the diagnosed severity level of the disability to receiving and/or expressing learning.

 

Testing Center: Students with appropriate documentation may have the reasonable accommodation to use the Testing Center for their exams.

 

How to Request Services

  • Schedule an appointment to discuss possible reasonable accommodations with the Coordinator of Disability Services Office, Dian Jenkins by either calling (970) 247-7459 v/tty or emailing jenkins_d@fortlewis.edu.
  • Provide valid documentation of disability from the appropriate, licensed professional to the Disability Services Office.
  • Once accommodations are discussed, identified, and a letter of academic accommodations mutually generated, the student will personally deliver the letter to faculty.
  • Collaborate with instructors to implement the course requirements and expectations with accommodations.

Timeline

To maximize the effectiveness of accommodations, students should apply to Disability Services Office 6-8 weeks prior to needing them. Some accommodations may take 4-6 weeks to finalize.
