7th Apple Days Festival

Hello there, All! The FLC Environmental Center and the Growing Partners of Southwest Colorado are excited to announce the 7th Annual Apple Days Festival this coming October 4th & 5th. We invite you all to be part of this amazing community celebration! This fun, family friendly event has drawn over 2000 people in past years and provides a great way to give back while having fun! In addition to coming out on Sunday, October 5th to enjoy live music, an amazing community and apples, apples, apples, we also have some opportunities for volunteer engagement. As an added bonus, there will be free fresh-pressed apple juice for our volunteers! Check out ways to support this event below:

Donate your Apple Trees for Harvesting! Have an apple tree and want it harvested? Please consider signing up your tree to be harvested by community volunteers on Saturday, October 4th. Your apples, in turn, will be pressed into amazing, local juice during the Apple Days Festivities on Apple 5th. If interested, please register your tree here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/16DZo2cJmkF4MdIkByKbyXKvKpSj-mp3a9rSC-oIFt7A/viewform?usp=send_form

Apple Days Harvest and Pressing: Every year, the Growing Partners of Southwest Colorado (of whom the EC is a founding and continuing member) will host their annual Apple Days Festival on October 4th and 5th this year. The festival provides an opportunity for the community to gather and celebrate the TONS of apples that grow in our area through apple pressing, pie eating, music, games, and more.

To Sign Up: We currently have apple harvesting opportunities available on Saturday, October 4th from 8:30-12:00 and again from 12:30-4:00p.m. We also invite you to volunteer Sunday, October 5th. We have two-hour shifts available in everything from apple pressing to children’s activities and pie-eating contest officiating. To learn more about each shift or register to volunteer, please visit the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center’s website and fill out our Apple Days Volunteer Form.

Thank you SO much to each of you for being active and engaged citizens and for helping the Environmental Center with some of these great projects. If you have any questions or need additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at rllandis@fortlewis.edu or (970) 247-7091. Thank you again!

My life has been woven by the theme of the unconventional. From my parents’ origins to the way I saw the ordinary things of the world, I knew that I might never quite fit in anywhere. Growing up in the outskirts of the largest city in South America, I found refuge amongst the trees, plants, […]

By Chris Davis, Zero Waste Team member A focus point of my life is spirituality. I know this is a heavy word and means different things to different people.
