| Who can use the Content Management System (CMS)? |
| Once you've organized web site information and have a navigation plan, you will need to determine where your web site will live.
Any Fort Lewis College office or department is encouraged to use the CMS to create college web sites. To use the CMS however, your college web site must live in a specific location on the herc server. Therefore, some academic departments, faculty web pages, student web pages and student club pages will not be able to use the CMS. If you have questions about using the CMS, contact Robin Cole.
No matter where your web site lives, designers are encouraged to use Design Guidelines for College Web Sites to maintain a consistent look for all Fort Lewis College web pages. |
Who should be trained to use the CMS? Department heads and permenant staff of offices using the CMS should receive CMS instruction from Robin Cole or from short tutorial videos.
Department heads and permenant staff are responsible for training student or temporary workers to use the CMS for web page modification or development.
By training permenant staff, college offices are assured of being able to supervise web page development and avoid the problem of being unable to change web page content after temporary workers are no longer employed by the college. |
