Office of Financial Aid

Have You Lost Your Student Financial Aid?

Students can lose their financial aid for a number of reasons. The most common reasons include:

  • Not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (2.0 cum g.p.a. or course completion rate of 67%) standards.
  • Exceeding the maximum number of attempted hours allowed (150% of degree program). For most program this means you have exceeded 180 credit hours.

Unfortunately, our ability to help is directly dependent upon why your aid was suspended. Students whose funding has been revoked can appeal that decision. To start the process please download and fill out the Financial Aid Suspension Appeal Application and return it to our office by the deadlines listed below.

If you do not have grounds for immediate reinstatement of aid, you can re-establish eligibility by achieving satisfactory progress standards while attending Fort Lewis College without benefit of federal, state, or institutional need-based aid. Once you have met standards, you must submit a new appeal by the appropriate deadline to have your financial aid eligibility reinstated.

1. Appeals will not be reviewed if the student has any hold which prevents registration, including when:

    • student has a past due balance;
    • student has not been officially admitted to Fort Lewis College;
    • student is on academic suspension.

2. Students will be notified of the result of their appeal via their Fort Lewis College email.

3. If a student is approved with conditions, which must be met before their will be disbursed, it is the responsibility of the student to notify the Office to Financial Aid when their conditions have been met.

4. If a student’s financial aid appeal is approved their new financial aid award will be posted on their WebOPUS account. Reinstated financial aid will be determined by the Appeals Committee and financial aid policy.
