Terms and Conditions for Institutional Scholarships

The Office of Admission & Advising makes the initial award of the following scholarships based on the application for admission. No other application is required. The Office of Financial Aid automatically renews these scholarships for students who meet renewal criteria. The Scholarship Appeals Committee considers the appeals of students whose institutional tuition scholarships have been cancelled.

Terms and Conditions for Initial Award in 2013-14

Achievers Tuition Scholarship

Summary

  • Minimum Eligibility: Student is admitted as a first-time freshman in a Fall or Spring semester, has a CCHE Admission Index of 95 or higher, and is college-level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
    Because there is a limited number of these awards, meeting minimum eligibility standards does not result in automatic award. 
  • Restricted to: Fort Lewis College tuition expenses.
  • Annual Award Amount: $1,500-$11,500, depending on tuition classification and CCHE Admission Index.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date. 
  • Renewal Criteria: 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 30 credits for students receiving a Fall and Spring award or 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 15 credits for students receiving a Spring only award.
  • Award Length: Renewable up to 120 earned credits or eight consecutive Fall and Spring semesters, whichever comes first.

Freshman Tuition Merit Scholarship

Summary

  • Eligibility: Student is admitted as a first-time freshman in a Fall or Spring semester, has a CCHE Admission Index of 95 or higher, and is college-level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Restricted to: Fort Lewis College tuition expenses.
  • Annual Award Amount: $500-$9,000, depending on tuition classification and CCHE Admission Index.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria: 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 30 credits for students receiving a Fall and Spring award or 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 15 credits for students receiving a Spring only award.
  • Award Length: Renewable up to 120 earned credits or eight consecutive Fall and Spring semesters, whichever comes first.

New Mexico Reciprocal Tuition Scholarship

Summary

  • Minimum Eligibility: Student is admitted as a first-time freshman in a Fall or Spring semester, has a CCHE Admission Index of 100 or higher, is a permanent  resident of New Mexico, and is college level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
    Or
    Student is admitted as a transfer student in a Fall or Spring Semester with a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0 or higher, has not previously earned a baccalaureate degree from Fort Lewis College or a previous institution, is a permanent resident of New Mexico, and is college-level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
    Because there is a limited number of these awards, meeting minimum eligibility standards does not result in automatic award. 
  • Restricted to: Fort Lewis College tuition expenses.
  • Annual Award Amount: The award amount is calculated annually after publication of the Tuition & Fees Schedule by subtracting the gross tuition for resident students enrolled in 12-18 credits from the tuition for nonresident students enrolled in 12-18 credits.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria: 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 30 credits for students receiving a Fall and Spring award or 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 15 credits for students receiving a Spring only award.
  • Award Length: Renewable up to 120 earned credits or eight consecutive Fall and Spring semesters, whichever comes first.

Transfer Tuition Merit Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Student is admitted as a transfer student in a Fall or Spring semester with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and has not previously earned a baccalaureate degree at Fort Lewis College or another institution.
  • Restricted to: Fort Lewis College tuition expenses.
  • Annual Award Amount: $1,000-$3,000, depending on tuition classification and cumulative college grade point average from previously attended institutions.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria: 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 30 credits for students receiving a Fall and Spring award or 2.0 cumulative grade point average and completion of 15 credits for students receiving a Spring only award.

  • Annual Award Amount:  $1,000-$6,000, depending on tuition classification.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria:  2.5 cumulative grade point average and completion of 24 credits each academic year.
  • Award Length:  120 earned credits.

    Student is admitted as a transfer student in a Fall or Spring Semester with a cumulative college grade point average of 2.75 or higher.  
  • Annual Award Amount:  $500-$2,000, depending on tuition classification and potential to graduate from Fort Lewis College.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria:  2.5 cumulative grade point average and completion of 24 credits each academic year.
  • Award Length:  120 earned credits.

New Mexico Reciprocal Tuition Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Student is admitted as a first-time freshman or a transfer student in Fall or Spring semester with a permanent residence in New Mexico, with priority given to San Juan County residents. Freshmen must have a CCHE Admission Index of 110 or higher.  Transfer students must have a cumulative college grade point average at previously attended institutions of 3.5 or higher.
  • Restricted to:   Fort Lewis college tuition expenses.
  • Annual Award Amount:  In-state tuition rate.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria:  2.5 cumulative grade point average and 24 completed credits each academic year.
  • Award Length:  120 earned credits or eight semesters, whichever comes first.

  • Award Length:  120 earned credits.

  • Annual Award Amount:  $1,500-$7,000, depending on tuition classification.
  • Disbursement Requirement: Enrollment in 12 or more credits by Census Date.
  • Renewal Criteria:  2.5 cumulative grade point average and 24 completed credits each academic year.
  • Award Length:  120 earned credits.
