Finish My Degree!

If you've never attended Fort Lewis, but want to finish your degree here:

1. Contact the Coordinator of Degree Completion, Crystal Fankhauser, at fankhauser_c@fortlewis.edu or (970) 247-7670 if you would like to know what courses you have left to complete, or if you have any questions about the process of finishing your degree. She can also do a preliminary evaluation of any transfer credits you may have from an official or unofficial transcript from each college, community college, or university you have attended.

2. Apply for admission. You can apply online here. You will need to click “First time user account creation” to set up a login ID and PIN so you can come back to your application if you don’t fill it out in one sitting. After that, it will ask you what your application type is -- choose “Transfer-Undergrad." You can also download a paper application here or pick one up at the Office of Admission & Advising.

3. If you are not currently considered a Colorado resident for tuition purposes, you can learn more about qualifying for Colorado residency here. If you think you qualify, fill out the Petition for In-State Tuition. Note that the Petition for In-State Tuition must be notarized, so the only ways it can be turned in are in-person or via mail. The deadline to turn it in is the first day of classes. You can return or mail it to the Office of Admission & Advising:

Fort Lewis College
Office of Admission & Advising
1000 Rim Drive
Durango, CO 81301
Attn: Barb Martin

4. If you are interested in financial aid, fill out the FAFSA. FAFSA stands for “Free Application for Federal Student Aid," and you fill out this form from the U.S. Department of Education in order to be considered for federal grants or loans, such as Pell Grants and Stafford Loans. Check here for recommended FAFSA submission dates.

5. Order official transcripts from each institution you have attended and have them sent directly to:

Fort Lewis College
Office of Admission & Advising
1000 Rim Drive
Durango, CO 81301

6. It takes four to six weeks to process your application. As soon as you've been admitted, contact Crystal Fankhauser at fankhauser_c@fortlewis.edu or (970) 247-7670 to set up an appointment for advising and registering for classes.

7. Once you are admitted, you can also apply for student housing if you’d like to live on campus. Campus living options include seven residence halls and two apartment buildings, with singles, doubles, and suites. Also, Living Learning Communities are an exciting way to connect with students who share your interests. The student housing website has rates for the various residence halls, instructions on how to apply for student housing, an answers to frequently asked questions.
