Hungry Mind House

HUNGRY MIND HOUSE RESIDENCE HALL

The Hungry Mind House is the most complete community experience in campus housing. Super kids, super caliber, many many in-dorm activities with book clubs, professors’ talks, Professional Associates get-togethers. Highly recommended.

Advantages to the Hungry Mind House Residence Hall:

  • If you are in Hungry MInd House AND in a Forum for Fall, you get priority registration for Winter term.

  • FREE tix to concerts, theatre events, speakers, etc.
  • Round Table Dinners with good food and interesting guest speakers
  • Mentorship and programs from the Professional Associates, retired community members ready and willing to help honors students
  • In-dorm discussions by faculty et al
  • Increased mentorship from Admitted Honors Students (i.e. upperclassmen)

The Events for this Fall will include:

  • The book selected for the Hungry Mind House common reading experience is Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist.

    • Throughout the semester we will have book discussions and events.

    • Hungry Mind House students will attend the Theatre Department's Fall theatre production of Raised in Captivity to compare/contrast ideas with The Alchemist.
    • As a final project, the Hungry Mind House members will have the opportunity to share their own "Personal Legend" in a way to be decided by the group.
  • The second week of September there will be a combined admitted Honors students and Hungry Mind House residents picnic.
  • The first Round Table will be located in the Hungry Mind House common area and is posted on the activities page.
