Fort Lewis College is a reflection of the community that surrounds it. The College serves the state of Colorado and the Four Corners region economically and through a number of programs and facilities that exist to serve, enrich and entertain the community.
Recent economic impact studies have estimated that the College contributes over $100 million dollars to the local economy. This stable contribution is especially important to La Plata County’s highly seasonal economy in that Fort Lewis College helps reduce the drop off during the tourism offseason.
The Center of Southwest Studies serves as a museum and research facility. The Center has been honored by the Colorado Commission of Higher Education as a program of excellence in state-funded higher education.
The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College is the premier performing arts venue for Southwestern Colorado and the entire Four Corners area.
Receiving the Colorado State Small Business Development Center Star Award in 2004, the Small Business Development Center provides the community with business start-up and growth assistance.
