Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Cycling Team Information

Fort Lewis College has reserved 150 spots for alumni, current students, faculty/staff, their families and significant others, and FLC supporters to ride as the Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Team on May 24th 2014.

By joining the Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Team, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Special edition Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Team jersey for Citizens Tour and Mountain Horse Tour riders (if you signed up by 3/12/14) and a special edition t-shirt for Quarter Horse Purgatory riders.
  • Tax-deductible donation to the IHBC Scholarship Fund.
  • The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic will contribute to the IHBC Scholarship fund for every Road Scholars registration.
  • Road Scholars celebration.

McDonald's Citizens Tour details - REGISTER HERE

What: McDonald's Citizen Tour (50 miles from Durango to Silverton)
When: Saturday May 24th, 2014, 7:35 a.m.
Where: Buckley Park, 12th and 13th St. and Main Ave., Durango, Colorado
How much: $149 for registration fee and a tax-deductible donation

Return Transportation: Riders who need return transportation from Silverton can purchase a return trip at the time of registration or packet pick-up on Friday May 23 at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave., Durango, CO. Bikes are also transported. Bike pickup is 3- 6:30 p.m. at Durango High School. Charge is $40, and space is limited. Riders are not allowed to ride back from Silverton.

All riders must be past Coal Bank Pass Summit by 11:30 AM and Molas Pass by 12:30 PM. Riders not past those points will be transported by bus to Silverton, and their bikes will be trucked. Roads open to vehicles at 1:00pm and all riders must be off by then! Riders are not allowed to ride back to Durango.


Mountain Horse Tour details - REGISTER HERE

What:  Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Mountain Horse Tour (new for 2014!) (27 miles from Purgatory to Silverton)
When: Saturday May 24th, 2014, 10:00
Where: Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort
How much: $115 for registration fee and a donation to the scholarship fund

Return Transportation: Riders who need return transportation from Silverton can purchase a return trip at the time of registration or packet pick-up on Friday May 23 at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave., Durango, CO. When: Saturday May 24th, 2014, 7:40 a.m.
Where: Buckley Park, 12th and 13th St. and Main Ave., Durango
How much: $100 for registration fee, t-shirt, and a donation to the scholarship fund

Return Transportation: The following transportation shuttles (including bikes) will be available at $15 per shuttle on Saturday, May 25:

  • 6:15 am departure from DMR to Durango
  • 12 noon departure from DMR to Durango
  • 1:00 pm departure from Silverton to DMR
  • 2:00 pm departure from DMR to Durango

Bib Numbers
If you didn’t select the mail option at the time of registration your bib number must be picked up on Friday May 23, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.,  Durango, CO.


Jerseys & T-Shirts
Jerseys are available only to those who sign up before 3/12/14. If you didn't select the delivery option (only available before 3/12/14) you must pick up your jerseys or t-shirt on Friday May 23, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.,  Durango, CO.
