Network Account

Student

  • When you are admitted a network account is created for you. Use your network account to access computer labs, email, WebOPUS, and theFort.
  • Students must set up their network
    • To set up your network account, go to https://thefort.fortlewis.edu. This is your student portal.
    • On the left, under the gold “Login” box, click on the link to “Retrieve your Username or Reset your Password.” You will be taken to the “Student Self Service Account Management” site.
    • Your username has been assigned according to the name you submitted on your registration documents. It usually includes your first initial, middle initial, and last name (Ex: abjones). If you did not include a middle name when you registered, your username will be your first initial and last name (Ex: ajones). To find out your unique username, click on the “Don’t Know” button. You will need to enter your first and last name, along with your birth date and student ID number (see acceptance letter for your ID) or Social Security number.
    • To set your password, type in your username and click submit. When prompted for the password, select “Don’t Know.” Follow the prompts to set up a security question. Once complete, you will be directed to a page with a button to reset your password.

Faculty and Staff

  • Employee accounts are created automatically when all Human Resources paperwork is complete. To activate your account go to https://apps.fortlewis.edu/it/account.
  • This account is used to log into the network and is also used to access your Fort Lewis College email online.
  • This account is also used to access many IT services provided to you.
  • The Computer/Network account consists of a username and password.
  • Faculty and staff usernames are assigned according to the name you submitted to Human Resources when you were hired. It usually includes your first initial, middle initial, and last name (Ex: abjones). If you do not have a middle name, your username will be your first initial and last name (Ex: ajones).
  • The password must be at least eight characters long and contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters and digits. Some special characters are allowed.
  • The first logon to the Computer/Network account must be made on campus. As part of the initial logon process a password change will be required.
