The Fort Lewis College Symphonic Band is one of Colorado's premiere bands directed by Dr. Mark Walters, Associate Professor of Music. The Symphonic Band is an open enrollment ensemble representing students from a variety of majors across campus. Approximately 65 percent of the ensemble’s 70 members are music majors or minors. The Symphonic Band meets three days per week and performs four major concerts each year. The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from traditional band works to more modern compositions. The Fort Lewis Symphonic Band has appeared at numerous regional and state conventions. The mission of the instrumental music program is to provide all students the opportunity to pursue musical activities of the highest possible performance level. The Fort Lewis College Symphonic Band invites you to be a part of that long tradition of excellence.
The Wind Ensemble is a select group of wind players and percussionists drawn from the symphonic band. This group performs challenging literature written specifically for the wind ensemble medium.
